Description
Mate is a plant that originates from Latin America where it is known as “Yerba Mate”. It has been consumed in the form of a herbal tea for centuries by the Guarani American Indians to promote vitality, health and longevity.
Traditionally drunk in a calabash with a filtering pipe, mate is a popular drink in many South American countries. Often enjoyed in a sociable atmosphere and prepared according to a very specific ritual, it is renowned for its revitalising properties. It has numerous benefits in fact, because it actually contains mateine, a substance similar to theine, as well as antioxidants.
This mate is flavoured with mint leaves, lemongrass and lemon peel, which softens the taste and makes this infusion very thirst-quenching. Thanks to its refreshing taste, this drink is pleasant all year round, but particularly during the summer months.

Manufacturing secrets
A precious plucking
Thés de La Pagode® respects an age-old tradition to ensure that all the benefits of tea are preserved. Indeed, the quality and fragrance of a tea are determined, among other things, by the type of leaf picked. In spring, in the gardens of Thés de la Pagode®, the "Imperial Plucking" is practiced: the pluckers select only the bud ("Pekoe" in Mandarin) and the first leaf. Another technique used is "fine picking". In this case, the pickers remove the bud and the first two leaves.
