ABC PATENT, A UNIQUE PATENT FOR THE ENRICHMENT OF ORGANIC TEA FOR HEALTH PURPOSES
Thés de la Pagode® have a unique patent for enriching tea leaves with dry extracts of medicinal plants: the Actifs Bio Concentrés® ("Active Organic Concentrates") patent.
The ABC patent explained in a video
What is a dry plant extract?
It is a fine powder from a plant with specific properties. A dry extract is much more concentrated in active ingredients than the plant (or part of a plant) and therefore requires a much smaller quantity to obtain the same result. Thus for Gingo® tea, 2 dry extracts are used to offer an effective synergy with green tea to improve circulation: Dry extract of red vine: for 200 mg of dry extract of red vine used, we have in reality the equivalent of 600 mg of dry red vine leaf. Dry extract of elderberry: for every 40 mg of dry extract of elderberry used, there is actually the equivalent of 120 mg of fresh elderberry.
How are dry plant extracts obtained ?
A dry plant extract is obtained from an extraction process of all or part of a plant through the following steps:
Grinding
The plant is ground
Maceration
It is macerated in a liquid to extract its soluble constituents (including the precious active ingredients)
Filtering
The resulting solution is filtered to keep only the useful active ingredients and then concentrated
Drying
It is then dried to evaporate the liquid part
The result is a fine, rich powder: this is the dry extract.
Concept of the ABC patent
The concept of this ABC process is to attach dry extracts of medicinal plants to green tea, pu-erh tea or rooibos leaves. It is possible to use several dry extracts of plants with complementary properties, in addition to the tea, in the same tea bag for optimal effectiveness. This is done using organic acacia gum with adhesive properties. Organic tea leaves are mixed with organic plant extracts and organic acacia gum. The gum will fix the extracts on the tea leaves. After a specific mixing and drying time, the tea or rooibos leaves are enriched with the active ingredients of the plants.
Advantages of the ABC patent
The Active Organic Concentrates patent process has several major advantages:
- Resource conservation: only a small amount of dry extracts is needed to achieve wellness or health benefits
- Combined effectiveness: several dry plant extracts can be combined in the same infusion, allowing a synergy of active ingredients to work on various targets
- 100% organic: the use of organic acacia gum allows us to offer a 100% organic tea
- Enhanced effectiveness: the bioavailability of the active ingredients is improved through the use of dry extracts and therefore the effectiveness of the tea is enhanced
- Preserves the taste: The sensory qualities of the tea are optimised to combine pleasure and health
