Black tea
Whatever their colour, all teas come from the same tree: the tea plant or "camellia sinensis" ("Chinese camellia"), but only those that undergo a fermentation stage can become black teas. Black tea is obtained through a so-called "long fermentation". This enzymatic fermentation gives it its colour and taste, but also its properties and benefits. It can be kept for several years without losing its flavour. This is why, in the beginning, all teas intended for export were black teas.
